Let colours do the talking in the office

30/05/2023

Colour is emotion and plays an important role in how we feel about something. By using colour in the right way, you can make the working environment more pleasant and improve the employee experience. That’s why it’s important to pay more attention to the use of colour in your interiors. But how do you decide which colours to use and how best to use them?

Brightening up your office with a simple addition of colour is easier said than done. Your mind instantly goes to slapping some paint on a wall. But furniture and decorations are also suitable to add some vibrancy to your working environment. After all, colours influence your employees’ choices but also their mood, attitude, productivity, and even digestion. Companies make grateful use of colour psychology.

Did you know that you can use colours functionally? Within your overall working environment, there are often different zones, each with its own function. Therefore, consider what you want to radiate when deciding on your colour palette and match them to the use of space. The orientation and dimensions of a room can also change optically. Something that’s best not forgotten when decorating smaller spaces!

But which colours are best to use? Colours evoke emotions and feelings and influence our behaviour. For a concentration room, it is best to use calm, soothing colours such as blue and green. Would you rather promote energy, creativity, and inspiration? Then choose colours like yellow or orange. In turn, green and earthy tones (wood) are suitable for most working environments as they create a homey feeling and calm. A calm base colour combined with a fun accent colour is often used. Neutral colours like beige, grey, and white are ideal for walls or furniture because they are soothing and not distracting. They provide a blank canvas for adding fun colours in the decorations.

Of course, you shouldn’t lose sight of the harmony between the colours and you should maintain balance in your colour palette. Stick to a few colours that complement each other and use them consistently throughout the room, floor, or building. This is how you create a visually pleasing and cohesive working environment for your employees.
